Rate: £27.21ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £20.35ph PAYE

 Job Description:

We are looking for a proven Logistics Solution Design Specialist, with broad knowledge of logistic engineering solutions, processes, ERP & logistics systems, automated & manual handling equipment and latest market trends. Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies, goods to person and automated delivery systems.

Knowledge and experience of solution data gathering and modelling, requirements management, solution and layout designs using Autodesk Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, business case creation, right through to delivery and final project completion.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Develop logistics projects in line with companies project life cycle from Pre-KO through to Production. Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies, goods to person and automated delivery systems.
  • Undertake requirements gathering, data modelling, solution and layout designs in CAD right through to delivery and final project completion.
  • Support development of warehousing and logistics solutions to drive towards benchmark CPU/HPU performance.
  • Data analysis identifying process waste and proposing solutions.
  • Manage delivery of defined project elements in line with Safety, Sustainability, Quality, Cost, Delivery.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and collaborate cross functionally (e.g. GME, Material Flow & Logistics Providers).
  • Optimise end-to end processes & solutions using Value Stream Mapping and/or simulation.
  • Define solution requirements with an up-to-date knowledge of automation landscape where relevant.
  • Ensure project inputs (e.g. data/assumptions) - are correct.
  • Control the project Plan For Every Part (PFEP) inputs relevant to Manufacturing Logistics: Sourcing alignment, stock holding, storage media, point of fit, etc.
  • Create RFQ's and manage through the process to nomination.
  • Create and/or update logistics standards documentation for new solutions implemented.
  • Problem Solving.
  • Raise and manage shopping carts / PO's.
  • Liaise with project delivery teams e.g. Facilities, IT, Packaging, Plant Material Flow to ensure project deliverables are clearly defined and handed over.
  • Report out status on project responsibilities.
    Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience 
  • Previous experience and background in Manufacturing Logistics.
  • Broad knowledge of logistic engineering solutions, processes, systems and equipment and latest market trends. Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies and goods to person and automated delivery systems.
  • Understanding logistic flows and processes and the principles of optimisation.
  • Management of stakeholders (internal/external) in a matrix organisation.
  • Ability to create logistics warehouse and lineside layouts in CAD
  • Project Management/delivery of small/medium projects.
  • Experience of risk management.
  • Experience of using Autodesk CAD design software.
  • Experience of Value Stream Mapping, identification and elimination of waste.
  • Strong analytical skills, data modelling, maintenance and statistical ability.
  • Experience of process improvement.
  • A good communicator with the ability to articulate complex ideas (verbally and through presentations).
  • An individual, who can work independently, and demonstrates drive and tenacity to get the job done.
  • Able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.
  • An effective team player
  • Proficient IT skills in Excel / Powerpoint.

You will have to establish business requirements / engage with stakeholders and customers alike and present sound logistics engineering solutions. These will require elements of finance justification and once approved you will lead the end result through to delivery, where relevant.

Thus, you will need to be proactive in your approach and develop relationships with a number of internal and external stakeholders to drive the end result, in line with companies Creator's Code. These projects will include all aspects of Sustainability and Health & Safety  these will be top on the list.

This is a highly demanding role, providing opportunities for international travel and a sense of autonomy and control over your work.
