Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has become available within our Indirect Procurement (IP) function within the Professional Services Team. The Category Buyer role will be responsible for the management of a diverse commodity area and will provide professional services and other specialist advisory services to support the BAU and transformation activity across the business.
 
The role will work with our client's Internal Stakeholders and Supplier Representatives to implement and manage relevant contracts and to agree Procurement Strategies that deliver value for money and fit for purpose solutions. Key stakeholders are across HR, Global Finance, Industrial Operations (Manufacturing, Purchasing and Supply Chain, Strategy & Sustainability and Product Engineering, as aligned and fundamental in the transformational delivery of our Re-imagine Strategy for a sustainable future.
 
The role provides significant visibility of a range of complex and diverse service contracts in support of value creation and operational excellence delivery at multiple levels within the organisation. There will be a mixture of tactical and strategic purchasing activities and one of the main tasks will be to develop and implement robust sourcing strategies, to support the advancement and maturation of the categories. The role is responsible for working closely with key Stakeholders to define both Strategy and Sourcing, as well as associated contract management and supplier relationship management, the role requires a high level of interaction with Internal Senior Stakeholders and External Suppliers.

Skills Required:
  • Previous experience in Indirect Procurement services category.
  • Experience of Category Management approach including strategy development and implementation, sourcing, contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • Skilled and experienced negotiator in commercial issues including terms and conditions.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Internal Stakeholders and Supplier Representatives to develop and deliver procurement strategies to purchase services and delivering value for money and fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Manage numerous Stakeholders and determine best fit procurement route per project.
  • Manage a varied Stakeholder group in developing strategic activities which form Strategic Category Plans (SCPs).
  • Develop the optimal supply base consistent with the Strategic Category Plans (SCP) content.
  • Manage supplier relationships and supplier performance.
  • Manage, plan and deliver annual budget savings.
  • Engage closely with key stakeholders to maximise Purchasing influence and ensure alignment with Purchasing processes and policy.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their Line Manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
Experience Required:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent (CIPS).
  • Global outlook with experience of dealing with an international supply base.
  • Knowledge of and able to demonstrate where they have written and executed category strategy, designed and led sourcing exercises, contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Effective communicator at all levels, strong influencing skills.

  • Resilient, energetic and enthusiastic, able to deliver results under pressure.
  • Comfortable with challenge, able to respond constructively to new ideas and inputs.
