Job Title: Logistics Engineering Solution Design Specialist

Location: Solihull / Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Rate: £31.15ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £23.70ph PAYE

Employment Type: Contract (23 Weeks)

Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week

Job Description:

This is initially a short-term Logistics Engineering Solution Design Specialist role, covering the early concept phases of a potentially large-scale logistics project. We are looking for a proven Logistics Engineer or planner, with broad knowledge of logistic engineering solutions, processes, systems and equipment and latest market trends. Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies, AGVs and handling equipment. Candidate should have the knowledge and experience of supporting requirements gathering, solution and layout designs, business case creation, right through to delivery and final project completion.
 
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: ·
  • Contribute to the robust programme delivery and strategy execution to support a flawless programme launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues on the development of logistics requirements and material flow strategies, ensuring that our client are adopting 'Best-in-Class' Logistics solutions for new vehicle programmes.
  • Drive the development of cost submissions for programmes investment, marketplace space etc.
  • Design and improve processes of moving material throughout the factory and warehouse including lineside material presentation, warehouse design or optimisation, development of lean logistics solutions.
  • Create/Influence efficient line side, kitting zone and warehouse layouts.
  • Use benchmarking and other research methods to identify potential opportunities for the latest technology and methodologies to drive Best in Class solutions
  • Contribute to the development of layout plans for decks, marketplace and lineside in support of changes in model, volume, shift patterns.

Skills Required:
  • Leadership skills and proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience and background in Manufacturing Logistics.
  • Broad knowledge of logistic engineering solutions, processes, systems and equipment and latest market trends. Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies, AGVs and handling equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting requirements gathering, solution and layout designs, business case creation, right through to delivery and final project completion of logistics solutions.
Skills Preferred:
  • Candidate will have to establish business requirement or engage with stakeholders and customers alike and present sound logistics engineering solutions.
  • These will require elements of finance justification and once approved candidate will lead the end result through to delivery, where relevant. Thus, candidate will need to be proactive in approach and develop relationships with a number of internal and external stakeholders to drive the end result, in line with our client's Creator's Code.
  • These projects will include all aspects of Sustainability and Health & Safety and as our client is a keen promoter of both, these will be top on the list.
  • This is a highly demanding role with green field opportunities providing opportunities for international travel and a sense of autonomy and control over work.
Skills and experience:
  • Positive leadership skills and proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, driving others to deliver solutions with best enterprise results.
  • Previous experience and background in Manufacturing Logistics.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Experience or knowledge of project management and process improvement.
  • Ability to maintain and interpret logistics data knowledge and skills with a broad understanding of the interfaces into vehicle platforms and plants.
  • Strong IT skills and Microsoft package elements, Power Point and Excel.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience Preferred:
Desirable:
  • Experience working overseas or in an international project context or keen desire to do so.
  • CAD skills to create and maintain lineside layout drawings. 
 
Additional Information:
Approx 3 days per week onsite work as required.
