Job Title: Attributes Refinement Performance Senior Engineer

Location: Gaydon, Solihull & Halewood

Rate: £30.73ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £23.39ph PAYE

Employment Type: Contract (Currently financed until 31/03/2025)

Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week

Job Description:

Vehicle NVH is a key technical department within the product creation process, leading the engineering from concept to customer. Working here, the candidates will give our vehicles their unique characteristics, ensuring the many aspects of refinement required to achieve the customer expectations for all our client's programmes. It is all part of creating vehicles that delight customers and set us apart from the competition.
 
The NVH Attributes Refinement Group encompasses 3 distinct Teams: Prevention, Delivery and In-service Performance. Its responsible for strategy, methods, targets, testing, detection and resolution, specifically for the attributes of Squeak & Rattle and Water and Air Ingress across the full vehicle, systems and components. Operating from the very early phase of a vehicle programme, working cross functionally throughout design, development, manufacturing, launch until end of product life cycle.
 
The candidate will play a pivotal role within the In-service Performance Team to enhance the customer satisfaction by delivering vehicles free from abnormal noise (Squeak & Rattle) and water leaks. The primary role will be to gather facts to make a clear problem definition, then to employe strong negotiation skills to drive problem resolution using 8D and other quality tools. The Performance Team is responsible for issue resolutions that can arise internally through Manufacturing, Fleet users, Durability and Robustness vehicles and externally through warranty and IQS surveys.

Skills Required:
  • Automotive/Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience preferred.
  • Ability to Plan work/Events and organise detailed activity to deliver the outcomes.
  • Demonstable problem solving experience e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving.
Experience Required:
  • Automotive/Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate potential to strategise work streams based on the Business Plan.
  • Ability to Plan work/Events and organise detailed activity to deliver the outcomes.
  • Ability to lead large project/ resolve complex issues through leading Cross-functional Teams.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstable problem solving experience e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving.
  • Good experience of quality tools (8D, Fish bone, FTA, PDCA, 5Y etc.).
  • Ability to analyse large data that translates into next actions.
  • Ability to plan work in 2 weeks sprints, organise work based on priority and deliver against plan.
  • Being resourceful with Hands on complex problem solving capability.
  • Highly motivated, fast learner and ability to easily handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly (Have a Growth Mind-set).
  • Demonstrate good negotiation skills to promote issues to next phase of investigation.
  • A proactive and personable nature to engage with cross functional areas.
  • Microsoft package elements such Power Point and Excel to an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Automotive Manufacturing Processes.
  • Ability to deliver presentations to work groups and Senior Management.
  • A full UK driving licence.
Experience Preferred:
  • Automotive Engineering Degree/ Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience of New Model Launch or Vehicle Manufacturing Operations.
  • Technical knowledge of Vehicle Engineering related to Squeaks & Rattle or Water Ingress.
  • Drive and motivation to achieve goals of team and self with minimal supervision.
  • Active experience of working with Agile Methodologies (JIRA).
  • Experience of working with the following company toolsets; Tableau, AIMs, IQM, Flags, IDS, TGW .
  • A working knowledge of Trim & Final, BIW, Sealing Systems.
  • A working experience of CAD or Digi-buck.
  • Knowledge of material compatibility and joining technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety/ risk assessments.
Education Required:
  • Automotive Engineering Degree/ Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience of New Model Launch or Vehicle Manufacturing operations.
